First Update


While I wanted to add a legit tutorial level and throw out the godforsaken walls of text - I fortunately/unfortunately succumbed to other ideas and concepts.

  • I added "fog of war" - dark areas that obfuscate movements and actions of other characters. There's also a cool effect on UI if you try to enter it with your camera. Also, UI will change if the non-playable character is hidden. 
  • I added Menu during battle, so people can go back to the main menu and close the game without using Alt+F4
  • Character switching bug on TAB button is also fixed - the camera will also recenter on the selected character
  • Type icons were slightly changed, we have Flame, Spark, and Force. The Cross and Atom icon remained the same.
  • and finally I added something I call the AdventSystem

Now the AdventSystem is the biggest of all the changes; at the same time, it's invisible.
it's a system that allows:

  • Creating AdventActions - those are special scripts that allow moving and switching camera, starting dialogs, changing sprite colors, etc, etc
  • Setting AdventTriggers - list of conditions that when met will activate Advent Actions that are connected to them
  • Saving AdventVariables - special variables that save information about characters, enemies, and battlefield that can be used to trigger specific events

Now that it exists I will be able to make an interactive tutorial level that would able to help players learn the game by introducing new cards in specific intervals and centering the camera on specific objects to explain mechanics.

There are still things that need to be done, but creating a tutorial level will be a big stepping stone in this project.

After that I will be able to focus on adding a card setup menu - players will finally be able to set up their own abilities
